Collaborative music video — university group outcome

Working to a shared idea

Our group developed a beach-inspired visual direction for a music video connected to Clap! Clap! We worked with vivid colours, animated imagery and transitions that responded to the music.

I contributed rotoscoping, typography, cutouts and green-screen keying. I also came up with some of the transition ideas used in the final cut. The finished music video combines work by the whole group.

From CLAP to HOPE

I explored several animated type treatments. As the direction developed, the text changed from CLAP to HOPE, and I revised colour and timing to fit the other scenes. Tutor feedback encouraged us to reduce conflicting styles and improve the flow between clips.

Collaboration and credits

Group contributors: Destiny James, Shaima, Aimee, Rivan and Brian. Shaima supported storyboarding, coordination and transitions. Aimee assembled and synchronised the final film. Rivan and Brian contributed animation and other visual elements.

Some of my experiments were left out of the final edit. Learning to adapt my work to the shared direction was an important part of the project.
